MotoGP Legend Kevin Schwantz Warns Pecco Bagnaia About Marc Marquez’s Arrival at Ducati

MotoGP legend Kevin Schwantz has issued a candid warning to Pecco Bagnaia, anticipating that Marc Marquez’s arrival at Ducati will intensify the competition between the two riders. Marquez secured the coveted 2025 factory Ducati seat, setting up a high-profile partnership with Bagnaia, but Schwantz believes the dynamic between the two will be anything but easy.

“This is going to be a super-team, no doubt about it,” said Schwantz, the 1993 500cc world champion. “Both riders are incredibly fast, and the feedback Ducati will get from them will only strengthen their advantage. However, having them in the same garage will be fascinating to watch. The rivalry could fuel some tense moments.”

Bagnaia, currently fighting for the 2023 MotoGP title, will face Marquez as a direct competitor this season before becoming his teammate in 2025. Schwantz predicts this rivalry will only intensify. “The first person you don’t want to lose to is your teammate,” Schwantz explained. “Enea Bastianini has been strong competition for Bagnaia at times, but I think Marquez will push him every weekend.”

Aprilia’s Rise with Jorge Martin

Meanwhile, Schwantz also weighed in on Aprilia’s potential resurgence in the championship with the signing of Jorge Martin for 2025. Ducati’s decision to pass on Martin for the factory seat opened the door for Aprilia to secure the Spanish rider, who will join Marco Bezzecchi.

“Aprilia has done an excellent job in developing their bike,” Schwantz said. “Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales have both been impressive, but with Jorge Martin’s talent, I believe Aprilia can be serious title contenders. When their bike is at its best, it’s untouchable.”

Schwantz believes Martin’s hunger and willingness to push the limits will elevate Aprilia to new heights. “Martin’s speed and motivation make him the perfect rider for Aprilia. With him on board, they can absolutely compete for the world championship,” Schwantz asserted.

Pedro Acosta: A Future Champion

Schwantz also sees a bright future for Pedro Acosta, who has made a significant impact in his debut MotoGP season. Despite a dip in form recently, Acosta has secured a promotion from Tech3 to KTM’s factory team for 2025.

“Pedro has the raw talent to be a world champion,” Schwantz said. “He’s young, fearless, and has a lot of potential. I see a lot of myself in him. If he continues to develop and sharpen his race craft, there’s no doubt he will be a world champion in the future.”

As MotoGP fans look ahead to the 2025 season, the arrival of Marquez at Ducati, Martin’s move to Aprilia, and Acosta’s rise are sure to shake up the sport, keeping the competition as thrilling as ever.
