faced questions about the highly anticipated 2025 Ducati factory seat during a recent Mugello test. With Jorge Martin’s official signing for Aprilia, the path seems clear for Marquez to join Francesco Bagnaia in the red team.
Just days ago, Martin appeared destined for the coveted Ducati ride. However, Marquez’s refusal to move to the satellite Pramac team shifted the focus. When asked about the factory seat, Marquez remained tight-lipped.
“This is the biggest question mark,” he admitted. “I am quiet. I have some ideas, but I’m focusing on giving 100%.”
He acknowledged having “a few situations” that appeal to him, but offered no specifics.
Martin’s move to Aprilia practically confirms Marquez’s Ducati future. However, the champion rider’s current priority remains the 2024 championship, despite riding a year-old Ducati with the Gresini team compared to the superior 2024 bikes used by Bagnaia, Martin, and Bastianini.
Rain hampered further development during the Mugello test, but Marquez expressed confidence in his adaptation to the 2023 machine. He feels comfortable with the bike but acknowledges ongoing adjustments on specific tracks.
“There are small things to understand,” he said. “But how to ride the bike, how to make the race pace, I understand.”
Currently sitting third in the championship standings behind Martin, Marquez appears focused on the present while his future with Ducati seems all but sealed.
