Marco Bezzecchi is set to join Aprilia for the 2025 MotoGP season, according to Sky Italia. Bezzecchi, currently riding for VR46, will fill Aprilia’s second factory seat as the team undergoes significant changes in its rider lineup.
Aprilia has already secured Jorge Martin, who had hoped to join the factory Ducati team, making their new combination one to watch. With Aleix Espargaro retiring and Maverick Vinales moving to Tech3 KTM, Aprilia’s roster will be entirely new next year.
The addition of Bezzecchi fulfills Aprilia’s desire for an Italian rider on their team. Enea Bastianini was also considered but has similarly signed with Tech3 KTM. For Bezzecchi, this move represents his first opportunity in a factory role in MotoGP.
Bezzecchi had a standout season last year, achieving his first grand prix victory and competing for the championship until an injury sidelined him. However, this year he has faced challenges adapting to the GP23.
Despite his current struggles, Bezzecchi has received interest from rival manufacturers regarding his plans for 2025. He acknowledged the inquiries but remains focused on his present performance.
“Right now, the position that I’m in, for sure I am looking around a bit but I’m also in a moment where I’m struggling so I’m not thinking too much about the future,” Bezzecchi said. “I’m trying to think about the present.”
With Bezzecchi’s impending move, Aprilia aims to strengthen its team dynamics and performance for the upcoming MotoGP season.
