Marc Marquez Advocates for Aerodynamics Reduction in MotoGP: ‘360 or 340km/h Looks the Same on TV’

Expressing his long-standing disdain for aero devices, Marquez emphasized the need to address this aspect for the future of MotoGP, even with his current switch to Gresini Ducati, a team known for its aero advantages.

According to Marquez, reducing aerodynamics would lead to slower bikes, which could ultimately enhance the on-track spectacle. He highlighted that for viewers, the difference between speeds like 360km/h and 340km/h is imperceptible, and thus, aerodynamics reduction wouldn’t diminish the excitement for spectators.

Marquez underscored the growing resemblance between MotoGP bikes and Formula 1 cars due to increasing aero components, urging for a rethink of the regulations.

While the plans to reduce aerodynamics officially kick in for the 2027 season alongside other technical changes, KTM’s Pit Beirer questioned the necessity of waiting until then, suggesting an earlier implementation to maintain a balanced competition and prevent further lap time disparities.

The consensus among MotoGP manufacturers appears to lean towards reducing aerodynamics sooner rather than later, acknowledging its significant impact on bike performance across various aspects of racing.
