As the 2024 MotoGP season approaches, Honda’s rider Joan Mir begins with a sense of unease following the last testing session. Despite significant changes to the RC213V following a disappointing 2023 campaign, Honda still struggles to consistently compete at the front of the pack.
Joan Mir, the 2020 world champion, experienced a challenging debut season with Honda in 2023, scoring only 26 points. However, he feels more comfortable on the revamped bike, describing it as resembling “an actual MotoGP bike.”

Nevertheless, Mir remains apprehensive as he hasn’t been able to bring the bike to the desired level for the season opener in Qatar. He hopes to simply “survive” the race weekend and assess the bike’s performance.
While Mir acknowledges the improvements made during testing in Sepang, he expresses uncertainty about the bike’s potential in Qatar. He emphasizes the importance of remaining focused during the first practice session to evaluate any improvements made based on Stefan Bradl’s recent test.
Looking ahead, Mir sets realistic objectives for the season, aiming for consistent top-10 finishes. He stresses the need for Honda to make progressive steps forward, unlike the setbacks experienced in the previous season.
Overall, Mir’s outlook for the upcoming season is cautious yet optimistic, with hopes of gradual improvement and a stronger performance in races to come.
