continued his impressive rookie season in MotoGP, securing another top-five finish at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello. While unable to match the blistering pace of the dominant Ducati pack, Acosta emerged as the best non-Ducati rider for the second time this season.
The race initially saw Acosta clinging to the leading Ducatis of Bagnaia, Martin, Bastianini, and Marquez. However, the superior power of the Italian machines soon proved too much, leaving Acosta to fight for a solid fifth place.
“It was a tough race,” admitted Acosta. “We lacked something at the start, preventing us from joining the front group. But P5 was the best we could achieve today.”
Despite the missed podium opportunity, Acosta remained optimistic. “It’s important to score points after two DNFs and gain race experience, especially before the upcoming test. We’re happy overall, but we know we have more potential. We’ll keep working hard, as we’re getting closer to the top guys every race!”

Meanwhile, teammate Augusto Fernandez endured a disappointing race cut short by a technical issue. Forced to return to the pits and eventually retire, Fernandez expressed his frustration.
“It’s a shame to miss another finish,” lamented Fernandez. “We had a rare technical problem, but these things happen. We’ll look forward to the test tomorrow and keep trying new things. The season is long, and I’m confident we can improve!”
With a test session following the race, both riders will have the chance to analyze their performance and work towards further improvement in the remainder of the MotoGP season.
