A backstage altercation occurred at the UFC 310 weigh-ins when Nate Diaz threw a water bottle at UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and his team. The incident took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, although the cause of the disturbance remains unclear.
Video footage shows Diaz being escorted by security while shouting at Makhachev and his teammates, who were in close proximity. Makhachev, who had attended UFC 311 on-sale press conference earlier in the day, was caught in the middle of confrontation. Diaz, visibly agitated, yelled, “Pull up, b*tch,” before tossing a bottle toward Makhachev. Teammates Tagir Ulanbekov and Magomed Zaynukov were also present at the scene. In response, Zaynukov hurled an object back at Diaz. Security intervened quickly to prevent the situation from escalating further.
This isn’t the first time Diaz has been involved in such an incident. In April 2023, he threw a water bottle at reality star Chase DeMoor during the MF & DAZN X Series 6 event in New Orleans, leading to chaos. Diaz’s history of throwing bottles dates back to the infamous UFC 202 press conference in 2016. Where he and Conor McGregor exchanged cans and bottles across the Copperfield Theater in Las Vegas.
Despite the chaos, security ensured that the altercation did not escalate, and the weigh-ins continued without further incident.
