While some FBI agents find Kash Patel’s proposal for UFC-led training “surreal” and “wacky,” UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz 🏆 has a very different take.
💬 “I think it’s a brilliant idea,” Ortiz said on Fox & Friends on Friday. “But make sure you get the right fighters.”
🏛️ FBI & UFC: A Powerful Partnership?
In his first video conference with the FBI’s 55 field office supervisors, newly appointed director Kash Patel 🏛️ expressed his vision: a partnership between the FBI and UFC to enhance agents’ self-defense and martial arts skills. Given UFC CEO Dana White’s close ties with Donald Trump, who appointed Patel, the plan isn’t entirely unexpected. 🏅🤝
🥋 Ortiz Brings Experience to the Table
The 50-year-old former UFC champion has an extensive history in training law enforcement and military personnel.
🔹 2000-2005 – Trained California Highway Patrol officers 🚓
🔹 2005-2011 – Trained special forces in Iraq 🇺🇸
*🔹 Present – Works with Homeland Security & Lee County Sheriff’s Office

Ortiz believes the training should focus on subduing suspects safely rather than striking.
🗣️ “It’s not about fighting or punching and kicking,” he explained. “It’s about taking someone down safely to put handcuffs on them without unnecessary harm.”
🔄 Repetition = Muscle Memory
Ortiz emphasized that for this program to be effective, training must be continuous.
“It’s just repetition,” he said. “Doing it over and over makes it muscle memory. At that point, you don’t even think—you just react, which allows you to protect yourself and control the situation.” 💪🎯
