Joe Rogan: “Conor McGregor’s UFC Career Is Over”

Joe Rogan, renowned UFC commentator and podcast host, has expressed his belief that Conor McGregor’s days in the UFC are behind him. Despite ongoing speculation and hints of a comeback, Joe Rogan suggested that the former two-division champion may never return to the octagon.

McGregor, whose charisma and fighting prowess once electrified the UFC, has been absent from competition for over four years. While fans eagerly await his return, Rogan painted a sobering picture during a recent discussion about the Irish fighter’s legacy and current lifestyle.

Rogan: “I Don’t Know If Conor Will Ever Fight Again”

Speaking candidly, Rogan questioned McGregor’s readiness and ability to return to peak form:

“I don’t know if Conor’s ever going to fight again. The reality is, that guy’s partying, and he’s partying real hard.”

The 36-year-old has been embroiled in personal controversies and has openly embraced a lavish lifestyle. Rogan suggested that these factors, combined with the physical toll of McGregor’s career, might have permanently sidelined the UFC icon.

The Role of CTE in McGregor’s Decline

Rogan also raised concerns about Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a condition caused by repeated blows to the head. He highlighted how the cumulative damage from years of fighting, sparring, and competing at the highest level may have taken its toll:

“A lot of fighters who’ve sustained significant damage over their careers can’t avoid [CTE]. You’re not supposed to get punched in the head a thousand times a year.”

Rogan added that McGregor’s physical decline has been evident, referencing past defeats and the brutal leg injury that kept him out of action for an extended period.

A Four-Year Hiatus and Uncertain Future

McGregor last fought in July 2021, when he suffered a devastating leg injury against Dustin Poirier. Since then, rumors of a comeback have swirled, fueled by his sporadic training updates and promotional teases.

However, his much-anticipated fight against Michael Chandler, initially planned for 2024, has yet to materialize. With no official announcements from the UFC, McGregor’s future in the organization appears increasingly uncertain.

A Shift to Boxing?

Speculation now suggests that McGregor might explore opportunities outside the UFC. Reports hint at a potential boxing match in India, signaling a possible shift away from MMA.

The End of an Era?

For now, Rogan’s comments add weight to the growing belief that McGregor’s storied UFC career may be over. While fans hold out hope for one last glimpse of “The Notorious” in the octagon, the reality may be that his journey as a UFC fighter has reached its conclusion.

McGregor’s impact on the sport, however, remains undeniable. From his meteoric rise to his unprecedented achievements, he will forever be remembered as one of the most influential figures in MMA history.
