Michael Page Critiques Ian Machado Garry as a ‘McGregor Imitator’ Ahead of UFC 303 Clash

Ian Machado Garry, an undefeated welterweight hailing from near Dublin, Ireland, has drawn comparisons to Conor McGregor as he prepares to face former Bellator standout Michael “Venom” Page on the main card of UFC 303 this Saturday. Garry’s admiration for McGregor’s career path has not gone unnoticed, especially by his opponent.

Michael Page (22-2), known for his striking prowess and showmanship, has labeled Garry as a “fake Conor McGregor,” critiquing his attempt to emulate McGregor’s persona and style.

“I understand the inspiration fighters draw from McGregor, especially those from Ireland. But trying to mimic him exactly, that’s what I call fake,” Page remarked during the UFC 303 Media Day. “McGregor’s personality resonates authentically with fans. With Garry, it feels forced, and authenticity is lacking.”

Page, despite his criticism of Garry’s persona, maintains respect for his opponent’s achievements and abilities in the octagon. Recognizing Garry’s undefeated record and quick rise in the welterweight division, Page acknowledges the risks and challenges Garry poses.

“He’s had a quick rise, and he’s done well for himself. But accepting this fight against me, that was a big mistake,” Page asserted. “I take him seriously as an opponent. He’s confident and skilled, but I believe I’m better, and I’m here to prove it.”

Garry enters UFC 303 ranked seventh in the welterweight division, while Page, currently inside the Top 15, sees this bout as an opportunity to climb higher in the rankings with a decisive victory.

The clash between Garry and Page at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas promises to be an intriguing matchup, blending Garry’s youthful exuberance and McGregor-inspired bravado with Page’s seasoned experience and striking acumen. Fans can anticipate fireworks as both fighters aim to make their mark in the highly competitive welterweight landscape of the UFC.
