Dana White Joins Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Board of Directors

UFC CEO Dana White is expanding his business horizons by joining the board of directors for Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Meta announced on Monday that White, along with John Elkann, CEO of Exor, and Charlie Songhurst, former General Manager and Head of Global Corporate Strategy at Microsoft, will be joining the company’s board. The trio is set to bring valuable expertise to Meta as it seeks to innovate and expand in the fields of AI, wearables, and the future of human connection.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dana, John, and Charlie to our board. Their collective expertise and diverse perspectives will be instrumental as we continue to push forward with our ambitions in AI and other transformative technologies,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta, in a statement.

White, who has been the face of the UFC for over two decades, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity. “I’ve never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board,” White commented. “I’m a huge believer in social media and AI as the future. I’m excited to learn more about this business from the inside, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level.”

Zuckerberg’s long-standing admiration for the UFC may have played a role in this new collaboration. He has been spotted at several UFC events in recent years, even cornering fighter Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. Additionally, the UFC previously used Facebook Live to stream its preliminary card fights.

White’s new role at Meta signals his expanding influence beyond the world of mixed martial arts, embracing the future of technology and innovation.
