Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Williams Racing has unveiled an exciting new partnership with Zoox, an autonomous ride-hailing company and an independent subsidiary of Amazon. This multi-year collaboration marks the first ever partnership between a Formula 1 team and an autonomous vehicle company, a groundbreaking development in the world of motorsport.
As part of the deal, Zoox’s logo will feature on the Williams FW46 during races in the United States, starting with the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix. Additionally, fans attending the event will have the opportunity to experience Zoox’s autonomous technology firsthand, with the company’s robotaxi showcased at the Williams Fan Zone at the New York-New York Hotel throughout the race week.
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, Zoox plans to expand its presence in key cities where its autonomous technology is undergoing testing. The company will activate in Las Vegas, Austin, and Miami, and is preparing to offer its first public rides in its purpose built robotaxi in Las Vegas starting in 2025.
Williams and Zoox center their partnership on a shared commitment to pioneering automotive innovation. Williams Racing emphasized that the collaboration would unite the two organizations’ efforts to deliver industry-defining technology.
James Vowles, Team Principal of Williams Racing, commented on the collaboration, saying, “Williams Racing is excited to bring the future of mobility into Formula 1 and are thrilled to welcome Zoox as the first autonomous vehicle company to partner with us. Although this might seem like an unlikely pairing – with F1 focusing on the best drivers in the world and Zoox advancing driverless technology – both companies are at the fore front of innovation, and we share the same values of technological excellence.”
Carly Wyatt, Head of Communications & Marketing at Zoox, also spoke on the partnership, saying, “Partnering with Williams Racing reflects our shared pursuit of performance and precision. It’s an opportunity to introduce Zoox to a new audience of Williams and F1 fans who embrace technological innovation. This partnership will provide unique insights into how both industries are leveraging advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to shape the future of motorsports and mobility.”
The partnership signals an exciting crossover between the world of motorsports and autonomous technology, with both Williams and Zoox driving the future of innovation in their respective fields.
