Additionally, the anti-clockwise configuration of the track, one of eight such circuits in the 2024 schedule, adds to the physical strain on drivers. The relatively smooth surface of the track means drivers can maintain higher speeds without worrying about excessive tyre degradation, increasing the demands on their bodies.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc describes the Saudi Arabian GP as one of the most physically challenging races of the season, emphasizing the need for precision due to the high-speed corners and the unforgiving nature of the track’s walls.
Max Verstappen echoes Leclerc’s sentiments, highlighting the continuous G forces and the lack of rest for drivers due to the track’s layout. He also mentions the impact of bumps on driver vision, although this is disputed by some of his peers.
