Valtteri Bottas eyes early contract discussions with Audi, hoping to secure his future beyond 2025 in Formula 1.

Audi’s impending acquisition of Valtteri Bottas current team, Sauber, ahead of its anticipated return to Formula 1 in two years under the Stake F1 Team banner has prompted Bottas to plan talks for his future.
Having moved from Mercedes to Sauber in 2022, Bottas approaches the final year of his contract. The team extended his tenure for 2024 via a one-year clause, retaining the 10-time Grand Prix winner.
In an exclusive conversation with Motorsport.com, Bottas hinted at the likelihood of an Audi seat if he renews his Sauber deal for 2025.
Expressing his dedication to F1, the Finn, who has ventured into coffee roasting and gin production post-Mercedes, stated, “F1 is the priority. I’m keen to return to the podium and see the Audi project as a potential next step.”
While Bottas hasn’t engaged in formal discussions with Audi, he emphasized their importance in the early months of 2024.
He revealed, “My understanding is they’ll make future decisions soon. I’ll engage in those talks in the first quarter of this year.”
Contemplating options if talks falter, Bottas, turning 37 in 2026, affirmed his commitment to F1, expressing willingness to explore other team opportunities. Yet, his preference lies in aligning with Audi during their transition.
Highlighting his stance, he clarified, “Joining Audi is my top priority. But if that doesn’t materialize, I’d consider other options. I believe there’s more to accomplish in this sport.”
Bottas’s strategic moves showcase his eagerness to secure a stable F1 future amid Audi’s imminent entry into the racing arena.
