Mercedes F1 Junior Pin Joins FRECA Grid with Iron Dames

In the opening rounds of the 2024 F1 Academy season in Saudi Arabia, Pin demonstrated her prowess by clinching victory in both races driving her Mercedes-liveried entry. However, a communication mishap in the second race led to her crossing the finish line twice, resulting in a penalty that dropped her to ninth place.

Rather than waiting for the conclusion of the F1 Academy season, the French driver has opted to join forces once again with the Iron Dames, with whom she has previously competed in endurance racing. In addition to contesting several rounds of the World Endurance Championship, including the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours, Pin will also make her debut in the Formula Regional European Championship.

Expressing her excitement about the new challenge, Pin stated, “I feel grateful for this opportunity to participate in such a championship. I’m fully committed to this new challenge and can’t wait to be on track and make the most of it.”

Teaming up with Marta Garcia, Pin aims to inspire young girls worldwide to pursue their dreams in racing without fear. Garcia was a dominant force in the inaugural F1 Academy season, securing seven wins and five podium finishes.

Deborah Mayer, founder of the Iron Dames project, expressed her delight about the expansion into the FRECA championship, emphasizing the project’s commitment to promoting and nurturing female talent in motorsport.

The FRECA season kicks off on May 12 at Hockenheim, with Pin likely to miss the Hungarian round due to a scheduling conflict with the Barcelona F1 Academy event.
