has revealed that he may have compromised his car’s qualifying performance in favor of enhancing its race pace, resulting in his ninth place grid position for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Despite leading the second practice session ahead of his teammate, George Russell, Hamilton struggled to replicate his performance in qualifying. While Russell secured third on the grid, Hamilton found himself starting from row five.
Lewis Hamilton acknowledged the strong showing of his team and praised their efforts in preparing a competitive car for the race. He attributed his lower qualifying position to setup adjustments aimed at improving race performance.

Although Hamilton admitted to sacrificing more than he had hoped with his setup, he expressed optimism that it would pay off during the race. He acknowledged the challenge of over taking the faster cars ahead but remained upbeat about the prospects.
The difference in qualifying times between Russell in third and Hamilton in ninth was just 0.225 seconds, indicating the tight competition at the front of the grid. Team principal Toto Wolff attributed Hamilton’s position to “tiny margins” and emphasized the importance of optimizing tire performance.
While the team had expected better results based on their strong practice sessions, Wolff noted that they had focused on finding the right setup for the race. He expressed confidence that the adjustments made would benefit them during the race despite the challenges faced in qualifying.
Overall, Hamilton’s strategic decision to prioritize race pace over qualifying performance underscores his commitment to securing a competitive edge in the Bahrain Grand Prix.
