Ferrari’s Enhanced 2024 F1 Car No Longer Daunting Leclerc and Sainz

The challenges faced by drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who often found themselves qualifying well but lagging behind Red Bulls during races, prompted Ferrari to make substantial improvements.

According to senior performance manager Jock Clear, the new Ferrari car boasts enhancements across the board, offering more downforce, increased power, and a lighter design.

Clear described the car as “a bit chunkier with more chocolate on,” indicating its overall improved performance in all conditions.

One of the key areas of improvement highlighted by Jock Clear is the car’s drivability, with both Leclerc and Sainz expressing greater comfort and confidence in its consistency and predictability.

The revamped car no longer intimidates the drivers when facing changing wind conditions or when trailing behind opponents on the track.

While acknowledging that Ferrari still needs to address tyre management issues from the past, Clear noted the team’s progress in understanding and improving this aspect.

He cited Charles Leclerc’s ability to manage tyres effectively towards the end of the previous season as evidence of Ferrari’s strides in tyre management.

Clear anticipates that Ferrari and its competitors will have a clearer understanding of their strengths and weaknesses by the fourth race of the season in Japan, particularly with the challenging Suzuka circuit providing valuable insights.
