Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, Alpine has confirmed that Bruno Famin will step down from his role as team principal at the end of August.
Famin, who joined Alpine in 2022, was appointed as team principal in July-2023 after a notable career at Peugeot Sport. His departure marks significant change for the Anglo-French Formula One team as they head into the latter part of season.
In an official statement, Alpine said, “BWT Alpine F1 Team can confirm that Bruno Famin will move away from his current role as Team Principal of the F1 division by the end of August. Bruno will transition to oversee all other motorsport activities for the Renault Group at Viry-Chatillon. We will announce a new team principal in due course.”
Famin’s background includes a strong technical foundation, with an engineering degree from the National School of Arts and Crafts. He began his career in logistics and transport in West Africa before moving into motorsport. In 1989, he joined Peugeot Talbot Sport as development engineer and later became technical director of Peugeot Sport in 2005. In 2012, Peugeot Sport promoted him to director, where he oversaw the team’s racing operations.
After leaving Peugeot Sport in 2019, Famin joined the International Automobile Federation (FIA) as director of operations for the sports branch. He became CEO in charge of engine development for the Alpine F1 Team in February 2022. Efforts to steer the team through a period of transformation and growth have marked his tenure at Alpine.
