Vincent Kompany Criticizes Referee’s Decision in Wolves’ Equalizer

Kompany expressed disappointment with Bramall’s ruling, arguing that Dara O’Shea’s challenge on Rayan Ait-Nouri did not warrant a foul as there was no contact. The resulting free-kick, delivered by Pablo Sarabia, allowed Ait-Nouri to head home and level the score after Jacob Bruun Larsen’s opener.

Prior to the match, Kompany had voiced concerns about the declining standards of refereeing, emphasizing the importance of accurate decision-making. He remarked, “If you do a pirouette and fall on your own, and there’s absolutely no contact, it’s not a foul… The referee is in the best position, he sees it. I can see it from three times as far away and for some reason, there’s a decision made out of nothing again.”

Despite Burnley’s efforts to secure survival, the gap to safety has widened to six points, according to Kompany. Meanwhile, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil praised his team for surpassing last season’s points tally with their performance.

Jose Sa made crucial saves for Wolves, denying Vitinho and Wilson Odobert, while Bruun Larsen opened the scoring for Burnley with a volley from Dara O’Shea’s cross. However, Wolves equalized just before halftime through Ait-Nouri’s header from Sarabia’s free-kick.

Wolves had few chances before the equalizer, with Leon Chiwome shooting wide. They were fortunate to level the score on their first shot on target, which was confirmed after a VAR check. Despite Burnley’s pressure in the second half, Wolves held on for a valuable point.
