As EURO 2024 progresses, Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo, Germany’s Jamal Musiala, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze, and Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz are at the forefront of the Alipay+ Top Scorer race.
Cody Gakpo has been a standout, scoring in the Netherlands’ Matchday 1 victory over Poland, their narrow Matchday 3 loss to Austria, and with a powerful strike against Romania in the round of 16. With three goals, Gakpo is the only player still in the tournament among the top scorers.
Georges Mikautadze has been instrumental for Georgia, scoring penalties against Portugal and Czechia, and notching his nation’s first-ever EURO finals goal in a 3-1 defeat to Türkiye. Georgia’s journey ended in the round of 16 against Spain.
Jamal Musiala shone for Germany, scoring in their 5-1 win over Scotland and their 2-0 victory against Hungary. He added his third goal in Germany’s round of 16 match against Denmark. Despite his efforts, Germany was eliminated by Spain in the quarter-finals.
Ivan Schranz of Slovakia found the net against Belgium and Ukraine during the group stage, and scored his third goal in the round of 16 loss to England.
Interestingly, the first 38 goals at EURO 2024 were scored by different players, surpassing the previous tournament record of 25 set at EURO 2016.
