Gary Neville is set to host a special edition of the Stick To Football podcast during Euro 2024, but his usual partner, Jamie Carragher, will not be joining him. Instead, fellow pundits Ian Wright, Roy Keane. And Jill Scott will accompany the former England and Manchester United star on the televised special.

“Join me, Roy, Jill & Wrighty for a special Euro’s edition tomorrow night at 10:45pm on ITV1,” Neville announced on social media on Thursday. “We’ll also be bringing it to YouTube, so have a watch if you like.”

Fans expressed excitement about the lineup, although some were disappointed that Carragher, a regular on the show, would not participate. No specific reason was given for his absence. But it is known that the 46-year-old will be at the Glastonbury Festival over the weekend.

Some fans voiced their discontent on social media. One commented, “No Carra, no party. Sorry Gary, but that’s a boring panel,” while another suggested adding Wayne Rooney to the lineup. Rooney, who has been part of the BBC’s Euros coverage, has cut his time short with the broadcaster due to his pre-season responsibilities as the new Plymouth Argyle manager.

While Neville did not detail the topics for upcoming show, he has been vocal about England’s performances at the Euros. England topped their group despite scoring just twice, mirroring their progress at Euro 2020. And will face Slovakia in the round of 16 on Sunday.

“Gareth and the players have handled the media extremely well over the last three tournaments,” Neville said on ITV. “What they mustn’t do is go down a rabbit hole and think they’re the only ones getting criticised if they don’t play well.

“Referring back to times gone by, this is football criticism that we’re seeing. We’re talking about tactics, positions, who should come in at midfield alongside Declan Rice. They are genuine conversations because there’s a genuine disappointment so far this tournament.

“Previously it’s been very personal, an annihilation of individuals. I’m not seeing that, so don’t go down a rabbit hole thinking it’s really unfair.”

Despite Carragher’s absence, the special edition of the Stick To Football podcast promises engaging discussions and insights from a distinguished panel of football pundits. Fans can catch the show on ITV1 and YouTube.
