Ian Wright Applauds Arsenal Duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli for Key Roles in Brentford Victory

Ian Wright has praised Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli for stepping up in Arsenal’s crucial 3-1 victory over Brentford, highlighting their growing contributions to the team.

Despite going behind early in the match, Arsenal mounted a comeback, securing all three points with a determined performance. Jesus, who has faced criticism in the past for his goal-scoring inconsistency, equalised with a close-range finish, continuing his recent run of form. Martinelli then sealed the win, scoring a brilliant third goal that capped off a well-executed team effort.

Ian Wright, who has closely followed the team’s development, was particularly impressed with how the Brazilian duo have adapted to their roles in the absence of key players like Bukayo Saka, who is sidelined with an injury. The former Arsenal striker noted that both players have found their form at a critical juncture in the season.

“I’m delighted to see those two players [Martinelli and Jesus] finding form at a time when Arsenal need it most,” Wright said. “They are scoring goals, playing well, and contributing. They’ve realised this season how important their contributions are going to be, and you just hope it can continue for both of them.”

Although Arsenal sit six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, they have played one game more. While their attacking talent is widely recognized, Arsenal’s inconsistency in the final third has been a concern, with Mikel Arteta’s side struggling to create open-play chances. However, their success from set pieces, including Mikel Merino’s goal from a corner, has been a silver lining.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank acknowledged Arsenal’s proficiency in set-piece situations, despite his team’s defensive efforts. “We only gave away three corners, which is the fewest we’ve conceded against Arsenal in three years,” Frank explained. “But they are very good at set pieces. We need to learn from the best.”

Arsenal’s victory over Brentford marks another important step in their pursuit of a top-tier finish, and with key players like Jesus and Martinelli rising to the occasion, they will be hoping to maintain their momentum as the season progresses.
