Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s consistent presence at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground has been well-received within the club, with a sense that he is actively engaging in business matters.
Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25 per cent stake in United was confirmed on Christmas Eve. With the billionaire’s investment expected to be officially approved this month, amounting to approximately £1.3 billion. Since the announcement, Ratcliffe has attended his first United match, the Premier League draw against Tottenham in January, and has made multiple visits to Carrington.
In contrast to the Glazer family, who have maintained a distant presence during their tenure, Sir Jim Ratcliffe appears to be taking a more hands-on approach to his involvement with the club.

Accompanied by ally Sir Dave Brailsford, Ratcliffe has made several visits to Carrington. Including attending a memorial service at Old Trafford honoring the victims of the Munich Air Disaster. There is acknowledgment within the club that Ratcliffe is wasting no time despite awaiting final regulatory approval for his investment.
While no member of the Glazer family has attended a fan-led Munich memorial service, Ratcliffe, a lifelong United supporter. Has expressed his passion for the club both during his bid to invest and after the announcement of his investment.
“As a local boy and lifelong supporter of the Club, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United Board,” Ratcliffe stated. “We are committed to working with everyone at the Club to drive it forward.”

Although Ratcliffe’s tenure has just begun, significant changes are already underway. United did not make any new signings in the January transfer window but focused on offloading numerous players. Additionally, the appointment of Omar Berrada as the new CEO signals a shift in leadership.
Ratcliffe’s investment took a step closer this week with special resolution passed at an extraordinary general meeting of club’s board. Granting enhanced voting powers to the Class B shares purchased by Ratcliffe’s INEOS corporation.
Alongside Ratcliffe’s visits to Carrington, United staff members have traveled to Ratcliffe’s residence in Monaco for separate meetings. Reflecting the collaborative efforts between the club and its new stakeholders.
