Paul Lambert, a revered figure in Celtic’s history, has made a surprising assertion, stating unequivocally that he would never consider managing his former club.
Lambert enjoyed a distinguished playing career at Celtic, amassing 273 appearances between 1997 and 2005. His tenure coincided with significant success, including four Scottish league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two Scottish League Cups.
Despite his managerial experience with Aston Villa, Norwich City, and Ipswich Town, Lambert remains resolute in his decision to steer clear of the Celtic Park dugout.
During an interview on Undr the Cosh, Lambert expressed his unwavering stance, emphasizing his desire to preserve the fond memories of his time as a player at Celtic.
He stated, “I’d never do it, even if I was asked…I don’t need that in my life. Where I go back there and you know, ultimately, what’s gonna happen.”

Lambert’s legacy extends beyond Celtic, having played a pivotal role in Borussia Dortmund’s 1997 Champions League triumph, where he notably contained Zinedine Zidane in the final.
Reflecting on his Dortmund experience during a recent visit to the Westfalenstadion, Lambert marveled at the electric atmosphere of the Yellow Wall, describing it as one of the best experiences he has ever had.
Despite his enduring connection to both Celtic and Dortmund, Lambert remains resolute in his decision to stay away from management at his beloved former club.
