Manchester United Shift Focus from Mauricio Pochettino to Erik ten Hag After Failed Thomas Tuchel Talks

Speculation surrounding Mauricio Pochettino’s potential move to Manchester United has cooled off, with the Argentine coach unlikely to replace Erik ten Hag this summer.

Pochettino recently departed Chelsea, leaving halfway through his two-year contract. Despite being linked to the Old Trafford managerial position, Pochettino’s next move is reported to be “unlikely” to involve Manchester United.

With Ten Hag currently at the helm, United’s ownership, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, continues their end-of-season review. Although Pochettino expressed a desire to stay in the Premier League, it seems United may not be his next destination.

The narrowing pool of prospective coaches suggests a shift in focus for Ratcliffe’s team. Thomas Tuchel, previously considered a contender, has ruled out a move to Old Trafford after discussions with the club’s owner. Instead, Tuchel has opted for a break following his departure from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Pochettino made a quick return to Stamford Bridge, managing a World XI side against England for Soccer Aid. Despite the star-studded lineup, his team suffered a 6-3 defeat against a side led by Frank Lampard.

Ten Hag, who still has a year left on his contract, has guided United through two seasons, securing domestic trophies along the way. In response to questions about his future, Ten Hag emphasized his commitment to the ongoing project at Old Trafford, highlighting the team’s progress and development under his leadership.

While the managerial situation at Manchester United remains uncertain, Ten Hag’s dedication to building a successful team for the future suggests continuity and stability amidst the speculation.
