Man Utd’s Stance on Review Process That Frustrated Erik ten Hag Before Decision

The club ultimately decided to retain the Dutch manager and are now discussing extending his contract, which expires at the end of the 2024/25 season. These talks come amid preparations for summer recruitment, crucial for next season’s prospects.

Rumors suggested that Ten Hag might be sacked regardless of the FA Cup final outcome. However, after leading United to a surprise victory over Manchester City, he was confident about his position. During the subsequent weeks, while on holiday, Ten Hag anxiously awaited the club’s decision.

Ten Hag reportedly felt that the prolonged review period hindered their transfer activities. Nonetheless, according to the BBC, United deemed the review period necessary. Considering the new owners had joined midseason and needed time to assess the situation.

Constructive conversations between Ten Hag and club executives followed the review, with Ten Hag expressing joy over the decision to continue his tenure as he prepares for a third season at United.

United's

Ratcliffe acknowledged the challenging environment at Old Trafford, which has impeded managerial success in recent years. He has since brought in experienced professionals like Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox to help stabilize the club.

“In the last 11 years, Manchester United have had a lot of coaches and nobody has been very successful in that environment. That says to me there is something wrong with the environment,” Ratcliffe stated, highlighting the need for structural improvements at the club.
