Man Utd Transfer Update: Ugarte Deal Nearly Finalized, Sancho Faces Exit as Chelsea Swap Offer Rejected

As the summer transfer window enters its final week, Manchester United is poised for a flurry of activity. With key deals in the works as the Friday night deadline approaches.

Manuel Ugarte Deal Nearing Completion

Manchester United’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte appears to be nearing a successful conclusion. The Red Devils have been in negotiations with PSG throughout the summer, but agreeing on a transfer fee proved challenging. However, according to Uruguayan newspaper El Pais, talks between the two clubs are now “practically closed,” signaling that a deal is almost done.

Ugarte is expected to travel to Manchester shortly to finalize the remaining details of his move. Sources close to the negotiations suggest there are no significant obstacles left. With everything on track for the Uruguayan international to become a Manchester United player.

Matthaus Criticizes De Ligt Transfer

Former Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has expressed his disapproval of Bayern’s decision to sell Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United earlier this summer. De Ligt, who had been a consistent presence in Bayern’s defense over the past two seasons. Joined United in a move that Matthaus believes has weakened the German club.

United's

“Matthijs de Ligt was sold, even though he was the most stable defender over the past two years. He was the leader of the backline. Now Bayern are again looking for a successor to David Alaba. For me, it’s pathetic that this leader is missing,” Matthaus said in an interview with Sky Germany.

Matthaus added, “If de Ligt had not been sold, I would not have worries at FC Bayern now. But my opinion about him is probably different from the people in charge. It’s a decision that has to be accepted. The best defender for many is sold.”

United Rejects Sancho Swap Proposal

Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain as the winger edges closer to an exit from Old Trafford. The 23-year-old has been left out of the squad for both of United’s opening Premier League games this season, signaling that his time at the club may be coming to an end.

According to reports from BBC Sport, Chelsea has expressed interest in signing Sancho and proposed a swap deal involving left-back Ben Chilwell. However, Manchester United has reportedly rejected this offer, indicating that they are not keen on bringing Chilwell to Old Trafford. Instead, United is said to be open to either a permanent transfer for Sancho or a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause.

As the transfer window draws to a close, Sancho’s future is likely to be one of the key storylines to watch, with the winger’s departure seeming increasingly likely.

With just days left until the window shuts, Manchester United fans can expect more twists and turns as the club looks to finalize its summer business and bolster the squad for the season ahead.
