Liverpool Women’s team secured a comfortable victory over Aston Villa, marking their first consecutive wins in the Women’s Super League since October. Emma Koivisto starred with two goals in the match.
The scoring opened with Grace Fisk’s goal, following a well-executed free-kick routine, before doubled the lead with a close-range header. Villa pulled one back just before halftime through Sarah Mayling’s penalty.

However, Koivisto ensured victory for Liverpool in the second half, first with a clinical finish at the back post and then with a looping header. Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar faced criticism for her role in Liverpool’s second goal.
Liverpool manager Matt Beard praised his team’s performance, especially highlighting the goals from Fisk and Koivisto. He acknowledged the difficulty of scoring in the league and expressed satisfaction with the overall team effort.
The defeat compounded Aston Villa’s home struggles, as they have now won only one of their seven home matches this season. Villa manager Carla Ward took responsibility for the loss, attributing it to her tactical approach.
Liverpool’s win keeps them in contention for a fourth-place finish, level on points with Manchester United. Meanwhile, Aston Villa remains in eighth place in the WSL standings.
Overall, Liverpool’s dominant display reflected their determination to climb the league table, while Villa’s home woes continue to hamper their progress in the competition.
