Jurgen Klopp’s tongue-in-cheek send-off messages for Salah and Endo reflect Liverpool’s concerns amid international duties.

Jurgen Klopp faces upcoming fixtures without key players Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah as they depart for the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations, respectively. In a whimsical tone, Klopp shared his amusing sentiments, secretly wishing for both Egypt and Japan to have limited success in the upcoming tournaments, considering Liverpool’s interests. Liverpool is gearing up to face Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Klopp humorously conveyed his departing message for Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo as they embarked on international duties for Egypt and Japan, heading to the Africa Cup of Nations and the Asian Cup, respectively.
Expressing a tongue-in-cheek sentiment, Klopp admitted, “If I wish you good luck, it would be a lie.”
He amusingly added, “From a personal point of view, I would not be overly unhappy if they went out in the group stage, but it is probably not possible.”
Acknowledging the implications for Liverpool, Klopp stated, “But no, it’s fine, of course, I would be happy for them to go on and win it. I said good luck and come back healthy.”
Emphasizing the team’s readiness to adapt, Klopp affirmed, “Now we have to deal with it and we will deal with it. I am pretty positive we will find a way but obviously we have to show that on the pitch.”

Despite Salah’s formidable form with 18 goals in 27 appearances this season, Klopp downplayed the pressure of replacing him during his absence, highlighting the team’s diversity in offensive strategies.
Reflecting on the situation, Klopp noted, “No-one else who plays that wing should try to play like Mo, it’s not possible, so we just have to find another way and use the boys to their skills.”
Expressing confidence in Liverpool’s ability to navigate this period, Klopp stated, “I am pretty sure we will be fine but of course we play at Arsenal. At Arsenal, you can lose with Mo Salah, so it is possible as well that we lose without him.”
Liverpool faces Arsenal in the FA Cup before heading to a League Cup semi-final against Fulham, necessitating a careful balance between squad rotation and optimal team selection.
Klopp acknowledged the rigorous schedule and team constraints, stating, “I don’t know if Arsenal is a game to rotate. I don’t know if we have 100% the opportunity to do it.”
With a focus on success in both competitions, Klopp emphasized, “Both have the same importance – there is nothing in between. We want to win these games; we want to go to the final but we want to go to the next round as well.”
