West Ham’s Todibo Pursuit Faces Juventus Challenge Amidst Transfer Battle

West Ham United have reached an agreement with Nice to bring central defender Jean-Clair Todibo to the London Stadium, although finalizing the transfer remains uncertain due to ongoing negotiations over personal terms and competition from Juventus.

The deal in place involves an initial loan with a buy-option set at £26.85 million (€32 million), giving West Ham the opportunity to make the move permanent next summer. However, Juventus are also vying for Todibo’s signature, and sources indicate the 24-year-old prefers a move to Turin over East London, casting doubt on his arrival at West Ham.

Nice is reportedly urging Todibo to join West Ham as they await a satisfactory offer from Juventus, who had previously been interested in the player and blocked Manchester United’s attempt to sign him due to UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.

Despite earlier rejections, West Ham remains determined to secure Todibo, and has also discussed potential swaps involving their own defenders Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd during negotiations with Nice.

Todibo's

Todibo expressed openness to playing in the Premier League, stating to The Daily Mail, “It’s nice to hear all the compliments. I’m trying to stay focused on my game and my teammates – but for sure I am open to playing in the Premier League.”

West Ham’s proactive approach in the transfer market includes the recent £18 million sale of midfielder Flynn Downes to Southampton, freeing up funds for further acquisitions. Manager Julen Lopetegui is also keen on bolstering his attacking options, with Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran a primary target.

While rumours circulate, there is currently no concrete link to Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth despite earlier speculation about a potential bid for the Norwegian striker.
