Wes Brown Urges Rasmus Hojlund to Prove Himself as Ruben Amorim Eyes Viktor Gyokeres Transfer

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has called on Rasmus Hojlund to step up and prove to new boss Ruben Amorim that the club does not need to pursue a move for Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres, the Swedish striker from Sporting Lisbon, has heavily linked himself with a transfer to Old Trafford, as Amorim, who took over the reins at United, may look to bring his former player with him. However, Brown, who made nearly 250 appearances for United, believes the pressure is now on Hojlund to demonstrate his worth as the club’s focal point in attack.

Amorim, who recently led his first training session with Manchester United, faces a crucial test in his debut match as manager this Sunday against Ipswich. United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, and there is significant pressure on Amorim to turn the team’s fortunes around quickly.

While Hojlund has struggled in front of goal, failing to score in his last six appearances and netting just twice in 12 matches this season, Brown remains confident that the Danish forward can still prove himself.

“Hojlund works hard and does everything he can to help the team,” Brown stated. “However, I believe his teammates need to create more opportunities for him. He isn’t getting the ball in the right positions to score, and understandably, he’s frustrated because all he wants are chances to put the ball in the back of the net. Despite his struggles, the fans still love him because of his effort.”

Brown further emphasized that a change in management could provide Hojlund with a fresh start. “When a new manager comes in, it’s a clean slate for everyone. Amorim has a talented squad to choose from, but it’s up to Hojlund to hit the ground running and make his case,” he added.

In an interview with Casino24.dk, Brown acknowledged the rumors surrounding Gyokeres’ potential transfer to United. “United has linked with Viktor Gyokeres, and now it’s really up to Hojlund to show Amorim why he isn’t necessary. He needs to get involved, finish his chances, and prove he deserves to be in the starting XI week in and week out.”

Brown cautioned that if Hojlund doesn’t step up, it would be natural for the manager to bring in someone he trusts and knows well. “If Gyokeres comes in, it sends a message that the current players aren’t good enough. It’s about stepping up on the pitch and in training.”

As Amorim prepares for his first match as United’s manager, all eyes will be on Hojlund to prove his value and secure his place in the team’s future plans.
