Barcelona midfielder Gavi is reportedly feeling frustrated with his limited playing time following his recent return from injury, according to Javier Miguel in AS. Despite being cleared to play almost a month ago, Gavi has only managed to accumulate 48 minutes over six matches, with his appearances rarely exceeding 10 minutes each.
The young Spanish talent, known for his high-intensity playing style, is eager to regain his best form but is finding it challenging to do so with such brief outings. His style, which relies heavily on constant movement and pressing, has made a swift return to peak performance more difficult.
Barcelona’s manager Hansi Flick is taking a cautious approach in managing Gavi’s recovery. The midfielder suffered a significant injury last year, and Flick is determined to avoid any setbacks that could hinder his long-term fitness.
Flick’s Plan for Gavi’s Return
Flick’s management plan for Gavi is designed to gradually build the player’s fitness without rushing his return. Although Gavi was medically cleared in October, the club’s medical team and coaching staff agreed that full fitness would take more time. As a result, his minutes on the pitch have been limited to short stints.

Looking ahead, Flick’s plan is to slowly increase Gavi’s playing time throughout the next month, with the aim of having him fully fit and ready for more significant roles starting in January. The Spanish Super Cup is viewed as the key target for Gavi’s full return to the starting lineup.
In the meantime, Gavi will likely continue to feature in limited minutes during upcoming matches against teams such as Celta Vigo, Brest, Las Palmas, and Mallorca. If all goes according to plan, he could soon be back in contention for a starting spot, with potential appearances against Real Betis, Borussia Dortmund, Leganes, and Atletico Madrid marking his return to the first XI.
Gavi’s focus remains on ensuring he is fully prepared for the critical months ahead, as Barcelona looks to maintain momentum throughout the season.
