Clinton Morrison has highlighted Eddie Nketiah as an excellent addition to Crystal Palace but believes the striker has much to prove following his surprising departure from Arsenal.

Nketiah, an Arsenal academy graduate, completed his move to Selhurst Park on transfer deadline day and could make his debut against Leicester City this Saturday. Morrison, a former Palace striker, expressed surprise that Arsenal chose to let Nketiah go, considering his natural goal-scoring ability.

“I was surprised Arsenal let him go because Nketiah is a natural number nine,” Morrison remarked. “The problem was he wasn’t going to get the minutes he needed at Arsenal this season. He’ll get those opportunities at Crystal Palace.”

Morrison praised the signing, noting, “Nketiah is a very good striker with a lot to prove in the Premier League. At £25-30 million, it’s a solid deal in today’s market.”

In addition to the Nketiah transfer, Morrison commended Palace for retaining key players Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze. Guehi, who was subject to multiple bids from Newcastle United, has continued to impress both domestically and internationally.

Morrison stated, “Marc Guehi is a top player.” “He’s shown his quality week in and week out at Palace and on the international stage. Keeping hold of him and Eze is crucial for the club. Those were two of the most important deals in the transfer window.”

As Palace seeks their first win of the season against Leicester City, who also remain winless after three matches, Morrison highlighted the intriguing matchup between Leicester’s veteran striker Jamie Vardy and Palace’s Guehi.

“It’s an exciting battle, Jamie Vardy against Marc Guehi,” Morrison noted. “Even though Vardy is 37, his movement remains exceptional. Scoring over 130 Premier League goals is no fluke. Guehi will need to stay alert, as Vardy can seize any opportunity given to him.”

Morrison praised Vardy’s remarkable career journey from non-league football to becoming a Premier League and England star, emphasizing his continued significance to Leicester’s success.

“Vardy has had a fantastic career,” Morrison said. “If Leicester are to stay up this season, Vardy will be a key player. He’s always a threat, even if he’s quiet for most of the game.”

As Nketiah embarks on his new chapter at Crystal Palace, all eyes will be on how he adapts and proves his worth in the Premier League.
