Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have been together for nearly a decade, but despite their strong relationship, the football icon has yet to officially propose.
The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, with Ronaldo describing their connection as “magical” and “love at first sight.” Since then, they have built a family together, sharing two children while Rodriguez plays a key role in raising Ronaldo’s three other kids.
As Ronaldo celebrates his 40th birthday, speculation about his marital status continues, fueled by past interviews, social media hints, and even reports of a possible secret wedding.
Marriage Rumors Over the Years
Back in 2018, rumors of an engagement swirled when Rodriguez was spotted wearing what was believed to be a £615,000 Cartier ring during the World Cup in Russia. However, both denied any engagement at the time.
A year later, in a 2019 interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo admitted that marriage was in the cards but not an immediate priority. “Why not? Not now! Not in this interview. But one day, for sure. It’s my mum’s dream,” he said.
Since then, Rodriguez has also hinted at an eventual wedding. When asked by Spanish broadcaster Telecinco whether marriage was in their future, she simply responded, “Of course.”
Did They Already Tie the Knot?
Despite no official confirmation, Ronaldo has repeatedly referred to Rodriguez as his “wife” in public appearances, leading many to believe they may have already married in secret.
During an episode of the WHOOP podcast in early 2024, the Al-Nassr star casually mentioned “speaking with his wife” as part of his morning routine. Similarly, in an August YouTube video on his UR channel, the couple played a game of Mr. & Mrs.—both sporting matching rings.
Further speculation arose at an awards ceremony in Dubai just two months ago, when Ronaldo, accepting an award for Top Goalscorer of All Time, acknowledged Rodriguez in his speech: “My oldest son is here, and my wife [Georgina] is here.”
Most recently, in January 2025, Ronaldo celebrated Rodriguez’s 31st birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post, calling her “the mother, partner, friend, my wife.”
