Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a significant hint regarding his potential retirement. Stating that his current priority has shifted away from individual accolades towards being a team player. The 39-year-old forward, who currently plays for Al Nassr, expressed this sentiment following his latest goal in the AFC Champions League against Al Rayyan.
“I’m just enjoying playing football now as I know I don’t have much time left on the pitch,” Ronaldo remarked. “It is not important to me now to be the best player or to win awards. What is important to me now is to enjoy and help my team.”
Ronaldo recently celebrated a remarkable milestone by scoring the 900th goal of his illustrious career. While he continues to play a vital role for the Portugal national team, his contract with Al Nassr will expire next summer, creating uncertainty about his future in the sport. It remains uncertain whether he will sign a new deal or explore opportunities elsewhere.
In a podcast appearance with former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand. Ronaldo reflected on what he will miss most about football when he eventually hangs up his boots. He admitted, “I’ll miss the adrenaline of scoring a goal and the feeling of being nervous.” “I think I’m going to miss that because I can control many other aspects of my life, but the thrill of football is irreplaceable.”

Ronaldo emphasized his commitment to maintaining peak physical condition, stating, “I give everything; to 40, 41, it doesn’t matter. I’ve dedicated 25 years to football, and I cannot give more because age doesn’t allow it. That’s why I extend my career by taking care of myself and continuing to work hard. I know I can still produce something good for another two or three years.”
As he contemplates life beyond football, Ronaldo expressed a mix of excitement and trepidation. “I will miss it, and I will probably be a little lost,” he acknowledged, adding that he is focused on enjoying the present while also preparing for his future business endeavors.
