The host country aims to promote sausage sales by prohibiting football fans attending Euro 2024 from bringing fruit into stadiums. UEFA’s guidance indicates that officials will ban anyone caught smuggling in apples or oranges from the rest of the tournament.
A 10-page list of rules from the governing body includes standard prohibited items like flares and political messages, but also specifically highlights “fruit, such as apples, bananas, oranges, etc.” Officials will confiscate all food at one of three security checkpoints outside the 10 venues, except for healthy snacks required for medical reasons, which the stadium authority must approve in advance.
Once inside, fans can purchase a bockwurst sausage for £3.90 or a vegan currywurst for £4.50, with the menu primarily featuring local cuisine. A 500ml cup of Bitburger beer will cost £5.90, although officials will sell only low-alcohol beer (1 percent) at England’s opening game due to security concerns related to far-right Serbian ultras.

The stadium will price soft drinks at £5, a single bottle of water at £3.80, and a bar of chocolate at £2.70. However, fan parks in the 10 host cities will offer more affordable options, with a pint costing £4.20.
The Foreign Office has issued a warning to the over 40,000 England supporters traveling to Germany, cautioning them about the potency of German lager. “Beer can be stronger than in the UK, so drink responsibly, know your limits and respect local laws,” it stated. Fans may be denied entry to stadiums if they are too intoxicated – or if they are found carrying a Granny Smith apple.
