Cristiano Ronaldo Faces One-Game Suspension from Saudi Arabian FA for Gesture

Cristiano Ronaldo’s suspension means he will miss Al-Nassr’s upcoming game against Al-Hazm as a result of his conduct after Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al-Shabab. Allegedly, Ronaldo reacted to persistent chants of “Messi” from the opposition fans by cupping an ear and making a gesture towards his pelvis.

Although the live broadcast did not capture the moment, it gained attention after circulating on social media through mobile phone footage. In response, the Saff’s disciplinary and ethics committee took action, imposing a one-match ban on Ronaldo along with a fine of 10,000 Saudi Riyal (£2,100) for the Saff and an additional fine of 20,000 SAR payable to Al-Shabab FC. The disciplinary and ethics committee’s regulations took this action under article 57.

According to reports, Ronaldo attempted to explain his actions through a written statement, emphasizing that his gesture was a display of joy and victory rather than intended provocation. He expressed respect for all clubs and stated that such celebrations are commonplace in European football.

Ronaldo’s suspension underscores the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and respect on the field, with authorities enforcing disciplinary actions to uphold fair play and integrity in football matches.
