Chelsea Set to Secure €60m Deal for Palmeiras Wonderkid Estêvão Willian

Chelsea Football Club is on the brink of finalizing a transfer deal for Palmeiras sensation Estêvão Willian, with reports suggesting a fee in the range of €60 million (£51.4 million).

The 17-year-old winger, highly touted as one of Brazil’s most promising talents, has captured the attention of Chelsea’s recruitment team, who were determined to secure his signature.

Sources indicate that Chelsea has agreed to an initial payment of €34 million, with additional add-ons potentially pushing the total sum beyond €60 million. This substantial investment would make Estêvão, affectionately known as Messinho, the most expensive teenage player ever to hail from South America.

The move underscores Chelsea’s commitment to identifying and acquiring the finest young prospects globally. Having missed out on another Palmeiras prodigy, Endrick, who opted to join Real Madrid, Chelsea was keen to avoid a repeat scenario.

Endrick, also 17, notably scored Brazil’s winning goal against England at Wembley Stadium in March, further highlighting the caliber of talent emerging from Brazilian football.

Chelsea’s co-sporting director, Laurence Stewart, spearheaded the negotiations for Estêvão, underscoring the club’s growing presence in South America.

In recent years, Chelsea has been proactive in scouting young talents in Brazil, having secured signings such as Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Ângelo. Furthermore, there is considerable anticipation surrounding the imminent arrival of Ecuadorian prodigy Kendry Páez, slated to join Stamford Bridge in 2025.
