Former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna has made a bold suggestion: Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United and relaunch his career at the Emirates Stadium.
Sagna believes Rashford’s pace and attacking prowess would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s squad, creating a “frightening” frontline alongside Gabriel Jesus. This, he argues, could propel Arsenal towards challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title.
The suggestion comes amidst uncertainty surrounding Rashford’s future at Old Trafford. The 26-year-old endured a challenging season, marked by a dip in form and omission from England’s Euro 2020 squad. Manchester United, under new ownership, is also undergoing a significant overhaul, casting doubt on Rashford’s place.
Sagna acknowledges Rashford’s struggles but believes a fresh start at Arsenal could reignite his career. “People have been too harsh on him,” argues Sagna. He highlights potential off-field issues that might have impacted Rashford’s performance.
“This season has been a challenge for him,” says Sagna. “Mentally, he hasn’t been at his best, but when that happens you need support and a good environment to bring you back to your best level.”

Sagna suggests a move to Arsenal could provide the nurturing environment Rashford needs. “The vibe at Manchester United hasn’t been good this season,” he observes. “There were a lot of unhappy players, and the training ground wasn’t a happy place.”
Looking at Arsenal’s squad, Sagna envisions a dynamic partnership between Rashford and Jesus. “I think he could have amazing chemistry with Gabriel Jesus,” he enthuses. “I can see those two players clicking, pushing each other, and respecting each other, I think they could complement each other really well.”
A potential transfer would likely cost Arsenal a significant £70 million. However, Sagna believes it would be a “brilliant capture” and a “real statement of ambition” for the club. With Rashford’s talent and potential, it could prove to be a game-changer for Arsenal’s title aspirations.
