Zimbabwe wins the toss and chooses to bat in the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Kettarama, making three changes, while Sri Lanka hands ODI debut to Shevon Daniel and brings in Wanindu Hasaranga.

In the third ODI between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat at Kettarama under overcast conditions. The visitors made three changes to their playing XI, focusing on strengthening their bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza replaced offspinner Tapiwa Mufudza, Luke Jongwe came in for Faraz Akram, and Takudzwanashe Kaitano, who played the first ODI, replaced Tinashe Kamunhukamwe at the top of the order.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, introduced two changes to their lineup. Shevon Daniel received his ODI debut, allowing captain Kusal Mendis to return to his familiar No. 3 position. Dasun Shanaka, who had struggled in the series, was left out. Additionally, the return of Wanindu Hasaranga, who provides a lower-order batting option and spin bowling, added depth to the team. Hasaranga, recovering from injury, played his last ODI in July 2023 during the World Cup Qualifier. Legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay made way for him.
The second ODI saw Zimbabwe’s bowlers pose a significant challenge to Sri Lanka, defending a total of 209 and making the chase difficult. Richard Ngarava-led seamers displayed effectiveness in their performance. In this crucial match, Zimbabwe needs a victory to level the series.
Both previous matches at Kettarama were impacted by rain, with the first match resulting in a washout, and the second featuring a rain delay that did not affect the overs. Rain remained a potential factor in the third ODI.
