Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer for the Rajasthan Royals as he smashed an unbeaten 104* to lead his team to a convincing victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 22nd in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Opening the batting while chasing a target of 180 runs, the 22-year-old played crucial partnerships with the in-form Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson, steering the Royals to a comfortable IPL 2024 Match Winner result with nine wickets and eight balls to spare.
Reflecting on his match-winning century, Jaiswal shared his thoughts on his mindset during the game and expressed his gratitude towards the Rajasthan Royals’ team management and skipper Samson for their unwavering support throughout the season.
Speaking with the commentators after the match, Jaiswal revealed his approach to the innings:
“Right from the start, I really enjoyed it. My main focus was just watching the ball properly and playing my natural cricketing shots, which I believe I did well today. It was a lot of fun. I’m just trying to stay consistent, some days are tougher than others, but today everything clicked. I just went out there and played my game, without any specific plans in mind.”
Jaiswal didn’t forget to express his appreciation for the Rajasthan Royals’ team management, including head coach Kumar Sangakkara, and captain Sanju Samson for their constant support and belief in his potential. He credited their guidance for his consistent performances and overall improvement as a player:
“I would like to thank all my seniors who have been there for me throughout these eight games. The way they’ve guided me has been amazing. Especially, a big thank you to the Rajasthan Royals management, Sanga sir, and Sanju bhai for believing in me, giving me all the opportunities, and making sure I put in the best effort during practice sessions and matches, allowing me to learn and grow. It’s a great feeling to go out there and enjoy my innings.”
Buoyed by his stellar performance, Yashasvi Jaiswal will now set his sights on taking on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the upcoming IPL 2024 clash scheduled for April 27th at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.
