West Indies secured a spot in the Super Six stage of the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 with a commanding 53-run win over hosts Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. Despite posting a modest 112 for 7 in 20 overs, West Indies bowled Malaysia out for just 59, finishing third in Group A. Malaysia, winless in three matches, were eliminated from the tournament.

West Indies captain Samara Ramnath delivered a match-winning all-round performance. Although dismissed for just 5, she dismantled Malaysia’s batting lineup with exceptional bowling figures of 4 for 6. Her effort ranks among the best in the tournament, following five-wicket hauls by India’s Vaishnavi Sharma and Scotland’s Maisie Maceira.
Chasing 113, Malaysia reached 38 for 2 by the halfway mark before a dramatic collapse, triggered by Ramnath. She bowled or trapped all four batters lbw, beginning with opposing captain Nur Daniya Syuhada, who had earlier taken Ramnath’s wicket. In the same over, she dismissed Nur Izzatul Syafiqa. Her second spell saw her clean up Suabika Manivannan, leaving Malaysia reeling. Offspinners Naijanni Cumberbatch and Erin Deane chipped in with four wickets in three overs, and Ramnath wrapped up the innings in the 18th over.
Earlier, West Indies struggled to build momentum with the bat. Assabi Callender anchored the innings with a steady 42-ball 30, ensuring her team reached a defendable total.
India and Sri Lanka, who lead Group A, have already qualified for the Super Six. While Malaysia’s campaign ends here, West Indies march on, bolstered by their captain’s inspiring display.
