Virat Kohli climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 run-scorers list, claiming the Orange Cap after a solid 49 off 34 balls against Lucknow Super Giants. His innings helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully chase a target of 147 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. With this knock, Kohli’s total for the season reached 228 runs, putting him just ahead of Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has 224 runs.

Interestingly, this was the first time Kohli featured as an Impact Player in IPL history. He was not part of RCB’s starting XI and came in later during the chase. Kohli had missed action in the previous match against Mumbai Indians due to knee soreness and admitted he was not fully fit leading into this game.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar also made progress in the standings, moving to third place after scoring a quick 27 off 13 balls. Along with Kohli, Klaasen, and Patidar, only Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have crossed the 200-run mark this season so far.
In the bowling charts, Anshul Kamboj and Prasidh Krishna lead the race with 10 wickets each. Close behind are Ravi Bishnoi and Prince Yadav with nine wickets apiece. Experienced bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya have taken seven wickets each, with Krunal being the only finger spinner among the top wicket-takers this season.
