India’s chase-master Virat Kohli is set to return for the second ODI against England in Cuttack. The veteran batter missed the first match due to swelling in his right knee but is expected to make a comeback. His absence saw Shubman Gill step up at No. 3, delivering a brilliant 87 off 96 balls. Though he missed out on a well-deserved century, his performance was a major boost for India. With Kohli’s likely return, the team combination is set for a reshuffle.

Iyer to Miss Out?
If Kohli returns, Shreyas Iyer might make way. Iyer, who scored a quick-fire 59 off 36 balls in the first ODI, revealed he played only because of Kohli’s unexpected injury. While there’s no official confirmation, his exclusion seems probable.
India’s Dominant Win in Nagpur
India secured a commanding four-wicket win in the first ODI at Nagpur, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. England had a strong start, reaching 75 without loss, but Indian bowlers, led by debutant Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja, dismantled their lineup, restricting them to 249.
In reply, India lost early wickets, but a crucial 94-run stand between Gill and Iyer steadied the chase. Iyer’s aggressive knock and Axar Patel’s composed fifty ensured India’s progress. Hardik Pandya and Jadeja finished the job with ease. Despite England’s efforts, their bowlers couldn’t stop India from securing victory with 68 balls to spare.
