USA Cricket recently announced the departure of Stuart Law as head coach of the men’s national team. The organization has not disclosed specific reasons behind his exit, though USA Cricket CEO Johnathan Atkeison acknowledged it was a “difficult decision.” Law’s exit comes mid-way through USA’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign, just a day before their match against Nepal in Dallas.

Appointed in April, Law’s tenure spanned over seven months, during which he led the team to notable achievements. Under his guidance, USA beat Bangladesh in a T20I series and advanced to the Super-Eights stage of the T20 World Cup—a historic feat for the team, marking their first time progressing to this stage. Key victories over Canada and Pakistan helped USA secure a spot in the Super-Eights in the T20 World Cup, which they co-hosted alongside the West Indies.
Despite these successes, Atkeison emphasized the need for a fresh approach. “Given Stuart’s contribution to the program, this was not an easy decision to make,” he stated in a press release. “Unfortunately, we felt a change was necessary for the next phase of competitive preparation.” Venu Pisike, Chair of USA Cricket, also expressed gratitude for Law’s impact, thanking him for his efforts and wishing him success in future endeavors.
Currently, USA ranks second on the Cricket World Cup League 2 points table, with six wins in nine games, positioning them strongly in their bid for qualification to the 2027 ODI World Cup. Law’s departure introduces new uncertainties but highlights USA Cricket’s focus on continued development and preparing the team for the challenges ahead.
