Recent developments in Bangladesh have prompted concerns at the ICC headquarters, leading to plans to potentially relocate the Women’s T20 World Cup. According to Cricbuzz, ongoing riots, protests, violence, and internet shutdowns in Bangladesh over the past weeks have created an unstable environment, raising alarms about the safety of the event.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering moving the tournament out of Bangladesh, with India emerging as the likely new host for the Women’s T20 World Cup. The event, scheduled from October 3 to 20, will feature ten teams playing 23 matches across two venues: Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
An ICC spokesperson stated, “The ICC is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies, and our own independent security consultants. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants.”
In the coming days, the ICC will discuss with the Bangladesh Cricket Board the feasibility of holding the tournament in the country. Given the worsening situation, it looks increasingly likely that India will host the Women’s T20 World Cup instead.
