Uncapped Eyman Fatima picked in Pakistan squad led by Fatima Sana for Women’s World Cup

Pakistan have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming women’s ODI World Cup, with 20-year-old uncapped batter Eyman Fatima earning a call-up. The team, led by Fatima Sana, will also play three ODIs against South Africa at home starting September 16, serving as preparation for the World Cup beginning September 30.

Uncapped Eyman Fatima picked in Pakistan squad led by Fatima Sana for Women’s World CupThis will be the first ODI World Cup as captain for Sana, who also led the side during the qualifiers in Lahore earlier this year. Eyman Fatima, who made her T20I debut earlier this month in Dublin, joins the squad alongside Sadaf Shamas. They replace Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who have been named among the five non-travelling reserves along with Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

In her brief T20I stint so far, Eyman batted twice in three games, scoring 23 and 4. Pakistan’s squad, along with the reserves, will undergo a 14-day training camp starting August 29 under head coach Muhammad Wasim before facing South Africa, who arrive in Lahore on September 12.

Pakistan will open their World Cup campaign against Bangladesh on October 2, followed by a much-anticipated clash against India on October 5. The team will play all seven league matches in Colombo, with the semi-final also scheduled there if they qualify. The second semi-final will take place in Navi Mumbai, while the final is set for November 2 in either Colombo or Navi Mumbai depending on the finalists.
