West Indies’ promising fast bowler, Shamar Joseph, will miss the International League T20 due to a toe injury sustained during the second Test against Australia in Brisbane. Following his impressive debut in Adelaide, where he claimed a fifer, Shamar Joseph played a crucial role in West Indies’ historic Test win in Brisbane, taking seven wickets in the fourth innings.
Reportedly, the Dubai Capitals were expecting the 24-year-old to join them for a T20 stint, but he will now return home to recover. His injury, considered too serious for immediate franchise cricket, underscores the physical toll of Test matches.
West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite highlighted the need for a balance between Test and T20 commitments, citing Alzarri Joseph’s commitment to both formats. Brathwaite emphasized the importance of consistent Test cricket to nurture the talent that has led West Indies to recent success.
Brathwaite expressed the desire for more regular Test cricket to maintain competitiveness and talent development, with the West Indies’ next Test series scheduled for July 10.
