South Africa has named an 18-year-old uncapped leg-spinner, Seshnie Naidu, and a 20-year-old seamer, Ayanda Hlubi, in their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Both players were part of the squad that competed in the inaugural Under-19 Women’s World Cup held in South Africa last year.

The rest of the squad includes experienced players from the team that reached the final of the 2023 T20 World Cup, except for wicketkeeper-batter Mieke de Ridder. Notably, Lara Goodall, Masabata Klaas, and Delmi Tucker have missed out on selection, while Shabnim Ismail has retired from international cricket.

Laura Wolvaardt will captain the team, which features experienced players such as all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, opening batter Tazmin Brits, and seamer Ayabonga Khaka. Nadine de Klerk, recovering from an Achilles injury, is expected to be fully fit for the tournament.

Before heading to the UAE, the squad will play three matches in Pakistan, following their last series against India in July.
