After two heavy defeats in India, Bangladesh’s focus has shifted to addressing home pitch conditions rather than just improving their batting or bowling. Taskin Ahmed, speaking after an 86-run loss to India in the second T20I, stressed the importance of playing on better pitches in Bangladesh to help the team adapt to high-scoring games. He echoed sentiments shared earlier by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and BCB president Faruque Ahmed, who hinted at possible changes to the Shere Bangla National Stadium’s pitch management.

Taskin pointed out that Bangladesh struggles to post or chase big totals because they rely heavily on a few players. When key batters fail, as they did in the second T20I, the team finds it difficult to recover. He highlighted that India’s batters, accustomed to high-scoring IPL matches, know how to build and chase large totals, a skill Bangladesh needs to develop.
Taskin also called for more franchise tournament experience for Bangladesh’s players, which could enhance their ability to score big. He emphasized that playing on better home pitches would improve both batting and bowling capabilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
While Taskin was the standout bowler in Delhi, the rest of the bowling unit, especially the spinners, struggled. Taskin acknowledged Shakib Al Hasan’s absence was felt but emphasized the team must learn to adapt without him as he nears retirement from other formats as well. Taskin admitted Bangladesh’s failure to improve in T20 cricket, despite their efforts, but remains hopeful for future progress.
